What is Paragraph?


The paragraph is a series of related sentences developing one topic.
Paragraph burger includes:
    1  .      Topic sentence
    2  .      Supporting sentences
    3  .      Concluding sentence
Paragraph: 3 to 10 sentences. About 100 words in length.
   a  .       Topic sentence            : One sentence
   b  .      Supporting sentence    : Two sentences
   c  .       Supporting sentence    : Two sentences
   d  .      Supporting sentence    : Two sentences
   e  .       Concluding sentence   : One sentence
The Topic Sentence
  ü  The topic of a paragraph is stated in one sentence. This is called topic sentence.
The rest of the paragraph consists of sentences that develop or explain the main idea (Supporting sentences)
Paragraph
A good paragraph must consist of three important parts. The first part to include is topic sentence. It must be stated at the beginning of the paragraph, for it is the main idea of the paragraph. Supporting sentences are the second part. Supporting sentences are the elaboration of the topic sentence. Giving details, providing examples, and telling through chronological order are ways to develop the topic sentence in the supporting sentences. Finally, to end the paragraph perfectly, concluding sentence is needed to be written. Conclusion restates or summarizes the main point of the whole paragraph. In conclusion, supporting, and concluding sentences are three main components to compose a complete paragraph.  
Note: Bold sentences are the topic sentence
         Italic sentences are the supporting sentences
         Underlined sentences are the concluding sentence

Unity in the paragraph
Every sentence in a paragraph should support the main idea expressed in the topic sentence.
Main idea
The concluding or clincher sentence:
  ü   Restate the topic sentence in different words
  ü   A clincher sentence or concluding sentence clinches the point made in the paragraph
  ü  It summarizes the paragraph
Coherence in a paragraph:
  ü   Stick to the point: The ideas have a clear and logical relation to each other.
  ü   Put details or examples or indicates in logical order.
Connecting sentences within the paragraph
Chronological order: First, meanwhile, later, afterwards, finally
Objects in relation to one another: Next to, in front of, beside, between, behind
In order of importance: However, furthermore, as a result, in fact, yet
Types of paragraph:
  1  .The narrative paragraph: Tells a story
  2  . The persuasive paragraph: Tries to convince the audience
  3  . The descriptive paragraph: Describes c=something
  4  . The expository of explanatory paragraph: Gives information or explains something
